Merry Christmas 2014

As Christmas day winds down here in Pennsylvania, I feel very grateful and blessed.  We have had a wonderful Christmas this year!  We had a beautiful candlelight service; we love Christ Church and we are proud to call Beaver Springs our home.  We feel very welcomed and appreciated.  We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas Eve party at our home with our church family and friends.  As we celebrate Christ's birth I am thankful to Him for providing for our family and giving us life's blessings.  To God be the glory.  Forever and Ever, Amen.

Jhon picked out the tree this year!

This is our faith tree, as Derly calls it, we also have a family tree with color lights.

Tia Meg and Tio Alex came in town for a visit

Jhon is 13.5 years old and he will very soon pass me in height!

We were blessed with a visit from family before Christmas this year.
Getting ready for Christmas Eve Party!

Firework tradition continues in PA!  We have to represent Colombia this time of year by setting off fireworks on Christmas!
Check out all the smoke from the fireworks.  It was 50 degrees out that day.

Thanksgiving 2014

I am very thankful to start a holiday season not worrying about which holiday I was going to have to work.  I always dreaded missing the precious time with my family.  For the last 11 years I have been an RN and therefore have had to work either Thanksgiving or Christmas.  For this reason, I will always boycott shopping on Thanksgiving (the new black Thursday).  Our society has become obsessed with consumerism and our homes are filled with toys and electronics hardly touched.   Conversations with our phone or tablet verses the ones sitting across from us.  I think back to my childhood and have fond memories of playing outside with my siblings and neighbors until the dinner bell was rung to come home.  Yesterday we got about 6inches of snow and my kids spent hours outside with each other and the neighbor kids building forts.  My laundry room is a hot mess of soaking coats, snow pants, dripping boots, snow filled hats and I love it!

This Thanksgiving I reflect on all that God has given us and am thankful for His divine hand in weaving our family together.  I am thankful for children, love, friendship, and health.  I am thankful for Jim and his leadership and patience.  I am thankful we can spend the holiday with Jim's mom.  I am thankful for our house which has become our home.  I am most thankful that Ryan has accepted Christ as his savior recently and made the most important decision a person can make.

1 Chronicles 16:34
Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His love endures forever.
 Love seeing this!

Prospero's selfies

Found this book and our kids love it!  It illustrates how difficult it can be learning a new language as an older child and our kids can really relate to this story.
