Jhon, our 12 year old, was baptized this last week. Jim had the ultimate joy of baptizing his son. Jhon is amazing and has gone through tremendous tragedy and triumph in his life. He has changed drastically in the last year and desires to follow after Christ and to live for God. He approached Jim and I to be baptized a couple months ago and had a true understanding of the purpose of baptism, following in Jesus' example and showing others there has been a change in ones life. We were so thankful to have my mother and father from Kentucky and my sister from Georgia join us in this joyous occassion.
Jhon wrote what he wanted to share with others and this is what he wanted to share: "My name is Jhon Matthews, I am 12 years old, I have been in the United States for 1 year. When I was in Colombia, I had no food and no family. God has given me a home and an awesome family. I want to get baptized today to show others that I love God and believe in Him."
I am so proud of my son and the young man he is becoming. I am so thankful to God for allowing us to raise him and be his parents. I am grateful he was able to join his siblings again and bond with them, learning to love and live with them again. The transition has been amazing and can only be explained by God's design for each of one of our lives. August is fast approaching and brings Ryan's 7th Birthday and Jim's 34th!
