Thanksgiving 2012, Derly made the place settings

Matching!
Beautiful large snowflakes at dinner time!  We enjoyed one of my favorite Thanksgivings to date.  What a blessing to have Jhon home.  We were blessed with Abuelo and Abuela in town for the holiday and Tia Meg flying up on black friday to be with us.  We enjoyed picking out our Christmas tree in 20 degree weather, and even the Southerners got out of the car to enjoy the festivities.  Jim has been preaching the last month and what a joy it has been hearing him bring God's Word to life.  So much to be thankful for this year!

Jesus' turn to pick out the Christmas tree this year!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvMLTatVh0o&feature=youtu.be

2 years ago today we were united with our four beautiful children. (Derly 7, Estefania 5, Jesus 4, Prospero 16months).  We became a family instantaneously and over the last 2 years we have learned to be a family together, (Mom, Dad, child).  We have laughed, cried, rejoiced, grieved, supported and encouraged one another.  Learning to love and be loved by each other.  There are moments in life that remain in the forefront of your mind forever....meeting our kids for the first time, holding them, kissing them, embracing them, loving them.  These moments still bring tears to my eyes as I recall them.  Tears of joy and elation, I am so blessed to be given such wonderful gifts from God, to raise and to call my own, to love, comfort, encourage and cherish.  The last 2 years have gone by in the blink of an eye.  I will never forget the moments right before meeting our kids, listening to their laughter in the other room as we waited anxiously to be united with the children we had been on our knees praying for for the last 5 years.  To see their sweet faces, to learn about who they are, their personalities, likes and dislikes, what qualities God has given them to make them each unique.  We were brought into the room to meet our kids and they were sitting in a line on small chairs waiting anxiously to meet their new parents.  They loved opening the backpacks we brought with treasures in them and something to call their own.  Coming with literally the clothes on their backs and one toy each, this was like gold to them.  We sat and bonded for about 20 minutes before being whisked into a taxi (7 people in a Geo Metro) and back to the hotel.  Our stay in Colombia was joined by my mom and then my sister, Melissa, who both took time out of their lives to join us and help us navigate this journey God called us to.  To which we will be forever grateful for their generosity and selflessness in coming with us. We were in Colombia 4 1/2 weeks.  I will never forget being called "Mami" and the first time I heard "I love you" from each of my kids.  I will also never forget after being home for just a couple months and while cooking dinner hearing an inner voice "You are not all here, something is missing."  God lead us to Jhon this past June and our four kids were reunited with their older brother whom they had not seen in 2 1/2 years.  We brought our son, Jhon 11, home in July and what a beautiful journey it has been.  I pray our story points to God and His design for our lives.  His desire is to have all kids know what is it like to have a mom and dad who love them unconditionally and forever.  "Te amo ayer, Te amo hoy, Te amo manana, y Te amo siempre."  I love you yesterday, today, tomorrow and forever.
