Christmas Cookies and Programs!

Christmas is just days away!  Our weeks have been filled with cookie making and Christmas programs at school and church.  The girls were in a program at church and did so well, it was their first one ever.  I'll be posting video later so stay tuned.  Jesus had his Christmas program for preschool today, so cute, he was a shepherd.  The kids enjoyed making cookies with Grandma Matthews, our 2nd annual Christmas cookie making party.  Prospero is doing great with his potty training, we are so proud of him.  Only wearing diapers at nap time and bedtime now!  The girls helped Mami make Arroz con leche, one of their favorite Colombian desserts.  It turned out well and they enjoyed singing the song that goes along with it.  We are looking forward to spending Christmas at home this year, it will be the kids first Christmas in their home.  Jim and I celebrated 11 years of marriage on December 16th.  We enjoyed a nice evening out and reflected on the blessings of this past year, not to mention how fast time flies.  We mailed our Dossier to our agency on Friday, we only have one more document to get before it is complete.  Hopefully we will have the paper in the next month and then can send our dossier down to Colombia mid January.  We hope and pray travel will be May, but it is still to early to know at this point.  We are planning a silent auction for March 3rd to help raise money.  Pray for donations to be received as we will be collecting those in the next month.  The Matthews' story will also be published in a magazine article around jan/feb, called Earthen Vessels.  We look forward to seeing how God may move hearts through our journey.  (A big thanks to my editor, Erin, you know who you are :)
Merry Christmas, Jhon, we pray you will be in our arms next year, God is with you, we are coming!
Merry Christmas To All!

So much to be Thankful For

Happy Thanksgiving!  The Matthews family enjoyed their first thanksgiving in the United States together.  We were joined by Jim's mom, Grandma Matthews.  The kids loved helping cook and we were all so stuffed with good food!  My list seems endless if I count my blessings from this last year.  I am so thankful to my Savior Jesus Christ for all He has done for me.  Without Him in my life, I would not know hope, faith and love.  I am so thankful for my husband, you are the love of my life, mi amor, mi corazon.  You are an amazing man, so patient and loving to our family.  You always put family first and encourage us in our lives.  Jim, you bring such joy and laughter to our home. I am so thankful for Derly, you are very beautiful and smart.  You are very helpful and you have a heart of gold.  I am so thankful for Estefania, you are muy bonita and very caring.  You work so hard at school and are very smart.  I am so thankful for Jesus, you are very sweet, I love your big brown eyes and sweet dimple smile.  Jesus, you are always making people laugh and you have a very loving heart.  I am so thankful for Prospero, you are very cute and sweet.  You are turning into a little boy right before our eyes, you are helpful and love to read books.  I am so thankful for Jhon, I am so excited to be your Mami, I cannot wait to hold you in my arms and tell you how much I love you.  I think about you everyday and pray for you every night.  My heart is so full with joy, love and gratitude for my God, my family and my life.
